The Dred Scott Decision of 1857 In-Person
Presented by The Newtown Historical Society.
Dred Scott was a slave who petitioned for his freedom to the Supreme Court where, by a vote of 7 to 2, was denied. In this fascinating talk, our presenter, Mark Albertson, will provide the backdrop to the race for politcal and economic control by those practitioners of Agrarian Capitalism in the South, and those of Industrial-Finance Capitalism in the North.
