Charles Goodyear – a Connecticut Native Online
Charles Goodyear was born over 200 years ago into a young United States. It was a time of economic and geographic expansion. Railroads didn't exist, cities and towns were small, and farming was the primary occupation, but all that was about change. Charles Goodyear, who inherited the inventor gene from his father, would be on the cusp of that change.
He was an inventor's inventor – never being satisfied with his quest. His relentless vision, experimentation, and tenacity drove him and his family to the poor house. His ten-year quest to uncover the secret to creating fully cured rubber, called vulcanized rubber, would feed the second stage of the world's industrial revolution. Join John Cilio as he unravels the folklore from reality about the amazing achievements of Connecticut’s Charles Goodyear and how products made from his patents changed our world.
